INDIANAPOLIS — Wheeler Mission on Monday asked Hoosiers to support neighbors experiencing homelessness by joining its Thanksgiving Day Drumstick Dash.
The 24th annual event is scheduled for Nov. 26 in the Broad Ripple neighborhood in north Indianapolis. Wheeler Mission aims to register 15,000 participants. Media reports show that’s how many participated in 2025.
Participants can run or walk 4.3-mile or 2.6-mile routes, both starting at 9 a.m. on Broad Ripple Avenue near the entrance to Broad Ripple Park.
A virtual race will also happen.
The cost to participate is $40 per person if registered by Nov. 11. Proceeds from the event support food, shelter and care for people experiencing homelessness in central and south central Indiana.
A free Lil’ Gobbler’s Run for children 12 and younger will start at 10:15 a.m.
Volunteers are also needed.
Registration, donations and volunteer information are available at DrumstickDash.org. Lucas Oil and Huntington Bank are among the event sponsors, a news release said.
Wheeler Mission has an administration building and men’s shelters in downtown Indianapolis, a thrift store south of downtown, and sites in Bloomington.
